Experience in Planning or implementation of community based projects shall be given preference, • Experience in projects financed by multilateral or bilateral donors is an asset, • Previous work experience in the province / district is an asset; •Registration with the relevant professional chambers or associations would be a comparative advantage)
Minimum Experience:
5 Years(Bachelors , Masters degree in Civil Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience or Bachelors in Civil Engineering with 7years of relevant experience.)
These positions are advertised to develop a roster of recommended candidates, who may be deployed on need basis. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the respective UNDP ERP Field Coordinator he/she shall be the “supervisory Engineer” of the multiple projects implemented by UNDP implementing partners under different contracts. The Engineer shall liaise regularly with UNDP ERP Field programme team and the ER Programme Management to ensure smooth support for the project and shall carry out the following tasks and responsibilities: - Provide assistance inselection of Implementation Partners (NGOs) and/or construction firms
- Participate in theappraisal of project proposals submitted by Implementation Partners and
- highlight strength /weaknesses in each proposal.
- Suggestions on improvementof Project proposals Studying each project at the onset and draft an outlineof items that may need attention
- Supervising theconstruction / community based infrastructure works in accordance with the
contract documents and using the template and procedure established in agreement betweenUNDP and contractor/implementing partner - Supervising the works inaccordance with the drawings, technical specifications and bills of
quantities and ensuring the correct implementation of the works according to technical specifications, to designs and quality of materials. - Preparing list of testsrequired as per the specifications and following up these tests
- Checking and ensuring thatthe site is arranged as per agreement
- All measures are taken forsafety of the third party in the vicinity of the site
- Review and assesscompliance of the work with the Guiding Principles and Minimum Standards
for Community Infrastructures. - Ensuring that health andsafety measures are adopted and followed to the full extent and
prepare weekly report and to suggest and instruct additional safety measures if needed - Provide an assessment ofany variation to UNDP for approval
- Review and certify paymentcertificates (interim) and submit to the Field Coordinator for Clearance andUNDP CO for payments
- Prepare and certify thefinal accounts of the works contract/s
- Manage site meetings withthe Contractor/s (different site meetings can be held for the
- different sites of theworks)
- Manage the works contractswith all pertinent documentations

Excellent knowledge of multi-disciplinary development approaches; Highly developed decision-making and analytical skills; Excellent interpersonal communication skills; Ability to work under stress and to undertake multi-tasking; Excellent skills in technical report writing; Good physical health and ability to travel to local areas with basic travel facilities; Positive attitude with a mind set of delivering development services in a most professional manner; Excellent listening skills; Ability to speak and understand the local language would be an added advantage
