Provincial EPI Officer (SSA)
Under direct technical guidance and supervision of EPI WHO medical officer and the overall supervision of WR/Pakistan, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
1. Provide Technical support for strengthening routine immunization activities, including:
· Implementation of the RED approach at the district level
· Monitoring and evaluation of routine immunization system
· Strengthening supervision and monitoring of EPI activities at the provincial and district level
· Strengthening collection, analysis and use of EPI data
2. Implementation of measles elimination activities including
· Planning and implementing measles follow-up SIAs
· Training of provincial-level staff on SIAs activities
· Establishing a system to monitor indicators for measles elimination after the campaign
3. Providing technical support to ensure successful introduction of new vaccines, including:
· Contributing to developing the new vaccines introduction plan
· Ensuring appropriate cold chain capacity for introduction of the new vaccine
· Developing training materials on new vaccines introduction
· Conducting provincial and district training on new vaccines introduction
· Revising the registration and reporting system to reflect the new vaccine
4. Provide technical support to implementation, monitoring and evaluation of surveillance systems of vaccine preventable diseases, including
· Case-based surveillance for measles with laboratory confirmation and achieving the surveillance quality indicators
· Community based surveillance of MNT
· Sentinel laboratory surveillance of diseases preventable by new vaccines, including bacterial meningitis surveillance, bacterial pneumonia surveillance and rotavirus gastroenteritis surveillance
5. Assist in improving EPI management system including
· Help coordination of ICC meetings and strengthening ICC function
· Support timely and appropriate use of GAVI funds to support strengthening immunization programme
· Support provincial contribution to reporting to GAVI
Education required:
· Essential: University degree in medicine or medical science with postgraduate training in epidemiology and Public health
· Desirable: Training in biostatistics and data analysis
Experience:
At least 5 year’s experience in:
· EPI programme planning and implementation of EPI routine immunization activities
· Monitoring, evaluation and assessment of national immunization programs
· Measles and other vaccine preventable diseases surveillance
